Why some categories require extra approval
Most sellers on Whatnot can list and sell once they've completed verification. Some categories require extra approval first because they require more expertise.
Luxury Bags & Accessories is a good example: buyers are spending hundreds or thousands of dollars per item, and sellers approved to sell here have shown they understand what the category requires.

How approval works
You apply by scheduling a show or listing a product in one of these categories. The app walks you through the application from there. Our team reviews your existing track record on Whatnot, the products you're planning to sell, and relevant experience before deciding.
You can check your current eligibility any time under Seller Hub → Settings → Seller Status.
For the current list of categories that require approval and the specific requirements for each, see How to sell in Gated Categories on Whatnot.

Keeping category access
Category approval isn't permanent. If your performance in the category no longer meets our standards, we'll remove access and let you know why. You can appeal by replying to the email we send you.
